ACSOL and FSF Leaders Educate Judges, Attorneys, Mental Health Professionals

Seven members of the ACSOL and Family Safety Foundation (FSF) boards of directors educated judges, attorneys and mental health professionals at the annual Forensic Mental Health Association conference last week in San Diego.  The education included a formal presentation by ACSOL board member and Southwestern law professor Catherine Carpenter as well as a poster presentation by ACSOL board members Jay Rice and Alex Gittinger.  Also participating in the conference were FSF board president Cliff Maas, FSF board members Kathleen Garner and Ellen Yates as well as ACSOL Executive Director Janice Bellucci.

“This conference provided us with unique opportunities to meet with individuals who make important decisions affecting the daily lives of registrants,” stated Bellucci.  “We provided those individuals with the true facts regarding registrants in order to displace myths such as registrants have a high risk of re-offense.“

ACSOL was a conference sponsor at the highest level due to a generous donation of $10,000 made by Cliff Maas, who also participated in the conference.  ACSOL plans to return to the FMHA conference next year.

Thank you ACSOL! Thank you for pushing hard data and facts to these people that have sway over our daily lives. Thank you for grabbing the national narrative by the horns and help steering the course to a more just and fairer society for everyone.
